Can a company retract GNU software to private or at least sell a copy of the software without the GNU licence?

Legally no that is not allowed.

Sure. It’s their software, as long as they legally own it. They can’t do anything about the code that’s already out there, but they own it and can do what they like with it.

Of course, they can’t sell it or give it away as GNU software once they pull it.
