formatting the c drive to remove OS from start up?
is it ok to format a (c) drive by going into my computer right click the c drive and format. i have windows xp pro on the (d) drive and a non working one on the c drive. i keep getting please select os to start when i turn on my computer. would it be ok if i just right click the c drive format and then it will just stop coming up.
That’s fine as long as you’re running off your D drive.
If all you want to do is change the way your computer acts on boot, you can edit Boot.ini. Please follow this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022
The drive you want to format has to be your second drive or slave you cannot format drive C with OS on it.
