How can I restore my Windows XP OS and keep the files that were left on the laptop?
I have a sony vaio and the OS on it is not working. I logged onto it the other day and none of the icons would load. Just the picture on the desktop came up. Is there any way for me to get it running again without losing the data. I need to know before I have to pay someone. Thanks.
First you need to check if you can use the "Start Menu." If so, you might be able to do a system restore if any restore points exist in you system.
If you can’t, you can try to run Windows on safe mode by pressing F5 when your computer is booting and selecting " Safe mode." Once the computer loads in safe mode try the step above. If this can’t be done you will not be able to keep you files.
