How do I make a bootable OS X external hard drive using a Windows machine?

I am trying to make a bootable external hard drive to install OS X 10.5.6 onto a netbook, but I don’t have a Mac.
Thanks for the third answer, which I gave a thumbs up. The other 2 people were sadly misinformed, and lacking knowledge, the 4th is not me, so what is worth my time, and money, is up to me. I shall repost the question.

You’ll need to format the drive for HFS first using a utility such as : http://www.macwindows.com/disks2.html

Then you follow normal steps as per :http://jpmcgarrity.com/blog/index.php/2009/08/how-to-create-a-boot-osx-usb-key/

You cant install OSX on a non Apple machine with a standard OSX install disk. You need the "hakintosh" versions, and even then you will have to know how to mod your drivers to get the basic components like sound and video to work properly.

In short, you cant at your knowledge level.

    Buy a mac.

    Sorry.

  • Aaron:

You can not install or run any mac osx on a non-apple machine.

They are coded to prevent usage on any non-apple computer.

I disagree with the guys above me, korgrue and aaron. You can make anything work by conversion on anything but you have to ask yourself if it is worth the effort, money and time to do so. In this instance, I do agree with the guy above and say "no," it is not worth the effort. The easiest way to do this would be to network a Mac with the hard drive to the Windows computer……….
