How to Uninstall a Program Which Won’t Uninstall

Millions of people uninstall programs every day. It’s a very common thing that most computers can do… but it’s also one of the most annoying if it goes wrong. Unfortunately, removing programs via the traditional means often goes wrong, and you’re left with a program that’s stuck on your computer. Luckily, there’s a simple tool you can use to uninstall a program that’s having problems.

When you uninstall a program in Windows, you’re basically using a tool which automates a simple task. This tool does two things to your computer to delete the program from Windows. It removes the files the program needs to work (called the program files)… and it removes the links the program has with Windows (called registry keys). Whenever you click “uninstall” on any program, those are the two things the program deletes.

This is okay, but when this tool that comes with the program fails, it can leave you out in the cold with no alternatives to remove the program from your PC. Luckily, there’s a simple way to get around this problem, by removing the parts of the program yourself. This is how computer technicians remove programs that won’t uninstall – they remove any files associated with the program(this will stop the program from working and will actually remove it from yourPC) and then they will cut the program out of Windows, by removing all the links it has inside a database called the ‘registry’.

This method is very successful because it’s basically where the technician is taking the place of the uninstaller program, acting like it would to remove the same files and links that it would. The only problem is that if you want to uninstall a program that won’t uninstall, you don’t want to pay $100′s for an expert technician to look at your computer for you. Luckily, there is another way that we can use to remove any program we want. There are tools out there which have been created specifically to do what traditional uninstall tools would do – which is to remove all the files and registry keys that they would. These are called “uninstaller programs” and are one of the hidden gems of the Internet.

There are a few of these programs available, which work very well to remove every trace of programs on your computer. They are recommended because they remove only the files and keys that the program has, meaning that they are not as risky as doing it yourself or getting someone else to do it for you.
