		<description>I would have said &quot;Ubuntu&quot; but I think that they have recently stopped supporting PowerPC. I put Debian on my iBook G4 (PowerPC) a little while ago and it works great. Everything is working (power save features, wireless card, etc.). For a desktop it should be even easier.

As you may know Ubuntu is based off Debian and so many things will &quot;feel&quot; very similar. You can use &quot;apt-get install &lt;package&gt;&quot; to get new software with a minimum of fuss. My recommendation would be to get the &quot;testing&quot; or &quot;stable&quot; (both are actually pretty stable, testing will just have newer software) version of Debian via bittorrent:</description>
