Reusing the XP registration code on the same computer?

I am planning on wiping my computer completely. I had done so before using a program called Kill-Disk, and it works quite effectively. The only thing I’m worried about is my operating system. I have the Registration Code and the XP installation disk, but I’ve used the Registration code before. Would I be able to reuse the Registration code after the wipe?

Yes, it should work just fine. The only time you’ll have problems is when there’s a major hardware change, like if you upgrade your motherboard. Even then all you have to do is call Microsoft tech support and activate Windows manually.

Yes, you can use it up to 4 times on the same computer and it will activate fine over the internet. If you use it more than that, or it doesn’t activate properly you can call Microsoft’s hotline, as you paid for your license, they will give you a working new one.

If you reuse it the code on the same computer, there will be no problem.

you can try.if it won’t let you,it will bring up a screen with the phone number for Microsoft and you’ll have to get another registration code. It’s east and free.I had to do it before it would let me online.

    Hi,

You are perfectly OK to reuse your XP registration when you reinstall the operating system.

Microsoft does have some limitations on online activation to prevent piracy, but if that limitation occurs on this occasion all you have to do is phone Microsoft and activate it that way.

The only thing that may cause a glitch, but again this can be overcome by telephoning Microsoft, is whether you have upgraded any hardware since the last activation of XP. Microsoft’s database when you activate will expect to see a similar setup to what was there previously.

    Regards,
