How much C do I need to learn before messing around with Cocoa?
Quite simply, I want to develop iPhone apps and my coding knowledge is mostly HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
I’m trying to lay out a program of study for myself. So far it looks like I’ll need to study C for a few months and then get into Cocoa. But I’m sure there are many variables I cannot yet see.
Please supply any advice.
What Open-Source Application Software Is Available for Apple Mac Hardware?
I’ve replaced Apple’s Safari’s web-browser with FireFox and I like it better. I also have replaced Apple’s Mac OS X Mail with Thunderbird and it’s a learning curve, but, so far, it seems more reliable.
Are there any other Apps for Mac OS X Leopard that are good open-source programs?
(I prefer apps written in Java).
I would appreciate all ideas.

What are the disadvantages of using alternatives to Objective-C for iPhone development?
I want to get into iPhone development, but I have an important question. There are plenty of alternative to Objective-C, but the real question is, why WOULDN’T I use them? Let’s take Titanium for example. It can be used to create native applications for multiple platforms, and not just the iPhone. Wouldn’t it be much better to learn to use that instead? Are they less flexible/powerful? What’s the percentage of iPhone developers that directly use Objective-C to make their apps?
What is the best programming language for making GUI applications?
I have been wondering what programming language i need to learn in order to make GUI apps. Could use assembly language or do you need something more high-level to do it. Also could that programming language make applications that transparent and have nice colors, or do you need separate software to do it for you?
