I have a shell script that takes in a filename as an argument. If the file doesn’t exist, the error comes to the command line but how do you get the program to EXIT if it has any errors while running?

I want to go on Yahoo! 360* but they blocked it the North Middle school computers for personal pages. The whole school last year broke the code until a nerds snitched on them. She won’t tell me the code. I know what a lot of you might say but this is what I want to do.
