I want to learn computer programming, but with all the different programming languages, I’m not sure which one I should study first. Is it best to start off with HTML, C++, Java, something else?

Because in reality, computer programming isn’t at all that important to me.
I need to make it sound plausible.
Please help!

Eventually I would like to program games for a living (I know it’s cliché). I’ve been looking at lists of BAs for certain colleges and haven’t decided quite what I’m looking for. Very few schools have an accredited Game Design/Game Development/Game Programming BA (Go Santa Cruz!), but many have both Computer Programming and Software Engineering degrees. What’s the difference between the two? Is Computer Science a good alternative?

I would like to learn both computer programming and design;and web programming and design. Where can i learn the most in the shortest amount of time, for free?

Is computer programming Visual Basic in Excel considered computer programming Visual Basic? Or can a person be considered a Visual Basic Programmer with only programming Visual Basic in Microsoft Excel.
