What book should I have to learn 3D game programming from A to Z?

I’ve looked for such book, but never found one. I want a book that supposes that the reader doesn’t know any thing about programming games, but doesn’t treat him like a total jerk.
If there’s no such thing, then tell me about a package of books each fully covering a side of 3d game programming and also tell me in which order should i read them.
And.. er..
That’s it.

What’s the difference between the two? Is Computer Science a good alternative?

What kinds of computer programming careers are there?

I acknowledge the fact that there are other computer programming careers out there other than game programming, but I don’t know what they are. I was thinking in getting a game programming career too, but I’m wondering if there’s other options. So, what kinds of computer programming careers are there?
