I’m looking for a good college to go to for game programming. From what I’ve found online, Digipen looks like a pretty good school, but I’m not sure that it’s quite what I’m looking for. If anyone knows of any good schools or knows more about Digipen, please post. Thanks a lot!

I have a huge interest in game programming but I don’t have a clue where to start.

I’m interested in learning programming. I’m looking forward to a career in programming. I’m not sure what kind exactly yet but I’m looking into making applications and/or game programming. Please give me a good language for these and state which one your talking about. Also can you please give me a website or book where i can learn and master this language.

I’m on my second year of Computer Science. I know Java, C, UNIX system programming, SQL, XML. I’ve figured that C++ is the most used language for game programming.

So where can I start? Should I join one of those game modding teams? Should I take one of those free online courses?

Is it required to know windows programming before one can begin game programming with DirectX?

I’ve seen some code written for Windows-based applications, and it is very different from what I’ve learned in C++ textbooks. I guess windows programming itself is very different from console applications.

Anyway, I want to get up to speed with DirectX, but I am not familiar with windows programming. Do I need to learn windows programming before I can even attempt to work with DirectX?

I really want to learn programming, but I’m having a little trouble with it. I tried learning C and C++, but it got frustrating trying to learn some of the things, like pointers. Should I learn an easier language first? If so, which one? Also, the main thing I want to learn is game programming.

I am 13 years old and would like to get into 3d game programming in c++ or javascript. Can someone please recommend a good programming book for complete beginners?

I’ve found a lot of different ones for game design and computer science classes, and only one for straight game programming which was the University of Advancing Technology. I want to learn the languages like C++, C, and C#. Thanks in advance.
