I took Intro into Programming as a high school elective I made really simple console programs like converters, rock paper scissor games, played with loops, whileloops, etc. I forgot a lot of the basics so I’m planning to review the basics and go deeper into Python. What advanced things can you do with Python? Encourage me to go deeper into Python or should I start from Java?

He has done some light HTML programming already but wants to learn how to build games etc. I have no idea how to get him started in this and becuase of his age there are not many options in the school system. I am trying to encourage his desire to learn more about this but am having difficulties finding a starting point. Thanks for all feedback!

I’m now in high school, and I’ve already known Pascal language. But since Pascal is old and out of fashion, I want to begin learning programming seriously. I like making games and websites. Is Visual Basic the best to start with ? And since I’m going to self teaching, could you guy suggest me some books ?

I was wondering what is the best programming language for making games. And than i mean the best and i want to know. What is a good book to learn it. What book could you advice me to learn that programming language to make games. I heared a lot about Java but as far i know Java is only good for websites could someone answer this too.

I have been a gamer for a long time and I have always wanted to design games. Now that I’m getting close to getting out of high school I really want to know If I want to go to collage for game design. Unfortunately there are really no opportunities for me to learn things like programming and game design at my school, so I wanted to know how I can start learning these things on my own. Also I want to know where I should start.

I have a CIS degree, but it was basics and primarily business. No heavy duty programming experience. I want to learn how to program for games for consoles and PC. Where do I start if I do not have any C, C++ programming experience? Can I learn this on my own without going back to school? If so, are there any books that you will recommend?

Even though this may be unrelated, I do have a MCSA in 2003.

From what I know, there is a game programming career that one of my friends is currently pursuing. He enjoys games and computers, by the way. I acknowledge the fact that there are other computer programming careers out there other than game programming, but I don’t know what they are. I was thinking in getting a game programming career too, but I’m wondering if there’s other options. So, what kinds of computer programming careers are there?

I would like to be a computer programmer, but I would need to know what are the best programming languages on the market needed that I must learn. Please, I want to jump in the market and I need some vital info so not as to make a fool of myself. Please let me know what language(s) I need to learn in order to be a computer programmer for games.
