I downloaded the express edition of C++. But is that free or just a trial? Or is there a difference between Visual C++ express and the express version? What I’m asking is if the express edition is free or if Visual C++ and the express are the same and cost money.

To become a gaming programmer, is it better to have a BS in Computer Science and a gaming track, or to have a BS degree in Gaming Stimulation ?

Also, salary-wise, who makes more money, the programmers or the artists?

I have just graduated with the BS in Computer Science from Troy University. I currently work at a helpdesk making good money and I don’t really want to leave this position. However, I do want to eventually jump into programming and I would like to know the best way to get experience.

I have heard that internships are a great way to accomplish this but where would I find one?

I have absolutely no experience in programming but I am interested in writing iPhone apps. I have done a lot of research but I haven’t found anything that is for complete beginners. I am 13 years old and i hear that you can make a lot of money from iPhone apps. PLEASE HELP!

What are the operational differences between Linux and UNIX? Why would a programmer choose one over the other? What about software selection and ease of programming (with already basic knowledge of programming, and wanting to dive in to open source)?

In terms of Linux, what makes things like Red Hat cost money and things like Ubuntu not? Is pay-for OS based on Linux better quality than freely distributed OS? What is the best choice for Linux-or-Unix OS for a budding programmer?

The only "programming" I know is basic HTML. At this point I do not wish to buy any books or spend any money. I just need a resource that shows me how to at least begin to learn about Objective-C for know-nothings. Thanks!

Hi. I am looking for an image hosting script to host images for another website of mine. I want to make it public so other people can upload photos as well. I know anything real great is going to cost money, but are there any decent scripts that are free?

I’m looking for a form of script that will allow a page to update itself instantly (much like Neo Pets)… It would be used for an rpg such as a person uses their money (by clicking a button) on an item and the item is put into their account.

What is it called, where can I find information on how to learn it?
