Can you use Open Source software for a Commercial game?
I’ve read lots of complex answers to this question but I don’t know some advanced software lingo. So my title is the question, but an example would be: If I was to make a video game, would i be able to use some Open Source software to make it, even if I wanted to sell it? Like if I used an open source tree generator or building generator could i still sell the game, even if I gave it credit?

Why do we not use Open Source OS such as Ubuntu instead of windows?
Open Source software has been around for a long time now and it pretty much in a stage where it rivals windows in many ways, there have been tons of articles about Ubuntu,Fedora,Suse and many other distros. So why do we use windows and keep paying Microsoft for crappy OS? Ubuntu for example is way easier than windows to use and comes with tons of free software.

Why do developers contribute to open source?
i’ve been reading articles and they all say that developers want to empower their software by sharing code and collaboratively writing it.. which makes some sense.. i also read that some just want to develop software to make the world better.. so i’m aware of that,
but how does a developer support himself financially?
recently, there was an open source software coordinator who decided to abandon the project because his family made fun of him for spending too much time and energy on something free.. this seems natural but why isn’t this the case with other developers?
