How come we never see any commercials or bus ads for open source software? You can’t argue with FREE. I was thinking about advertising Open Office at my college the other day. If I were to put an ad for OpenOffice 3 on a billboard, would I get in trouble? Someone needs to build awareness of the existence of open source alternatives.

I really want to know how I can save on programmers, I have a decent knowledge in coding but i cant do it myself. Thats why i believe there should be some open source software like Pligg to help me develop a site where people can ask there questions, and answer them of course. Any clue will be appreciated. I was wondering which is the world’s largest open source software development Web site? I am only familiar with Paragent. Anybody please clear my doubt.

There is so much open source software out there it, i thought there is some basic sales lead management software i can customize. It is lot eaiser to start with a base.

Is Microsoft spreading the lie that open source is command line and you have to be a geek to use it?
Do people not know that good open source software, such as Kubuntu, is easier to use than Windows?

I understand that proprietary software companies charge fees for licenses and access to their product, and in that way, they support their development and continued existence, but open-source software does not do that. How is it that open-source software continues to be developed and perfected without a revenue stream? Or, is there a revenue stream of which I am unaware?
