What is a good Open Source alternative to Adobe Creative Suite, especially Flash?
I need an alternative to the Adobe CS. Free and open source is preferred. I’m mainly looking for something to edit flash files since I already have Aptana in place of Dreamweaver. If you have a link to download that would be great.
ask about GNU License?
We intend to use LGPL-based (GNU Lesser General public License) software to our business project that is privately used only. We modify, rewrite, rebuild large parts of that software to fit our need. We don’t sell or ship to any other partners, what we do is running our business on that software. Do we have to publish our modifications as open source? We do not want to do this because of our business-secret. Are we violate the law if keeping new modifications silent?
What is a good open source help desk system?
Hello,
I do tech support for a small buisness in CA. I am thinking of using a help desk system that can be accessed by other employees. I would like to manage technical support issues, contact system, notes, maybe even a calander.
What do you think is a good system? I want open source first to test the waters and make sure the system will be used. If so I will then switch to a full help desk system.
Thanks.
I guess I sould mention, I am looking for help desk software not a different OS.
Where can I find open source music for my new game?
I’m designing a tactical turn-based game based in ancient China, and I’m looking for a recording of jinghu and drums that I can use for a 3-minute loop.
Any creative commons or open source style sites will be appreciated. Automatic best answer to the person who can direct me to a page with what I need.
Thanks~!
Much appreciated. It seems what I’m actually looking for is "royalty free" music.
How can I start an open source journal?
I want to start an open source journal. Does anyone know how to do that please and preferrably in an easy but still reliable way.
I want to start a medical journal that is easy to set up and reliable. Something like 50 pages that can be used as a reference.
Do you consider Gnu General Public License version 3 too restrictive?
It is the only software license (open source or otherwise) that tells you where you can’t run the software and forces distributors to give up their patent rights.
My software uses a library that is GNU GPL. Is my software also GPL?
Hiya,
I got someone to write a piece of code for me that was meant to be proprietary software (i.e restricted to my terms). I have since found out that it uses a library that was written under the GNU GPL license.
My question is whether this whole program is now automatically open source / free (is the whole thing under the GNU GPL now?)?
Would be great if people can back up their answers with some references!
Thanks!

Would contributing information to Wikipedia be considered a source of open source IT or anything like volunteering? etc?
