How do you install OS X from a thumb drive?
I have a iMac with a non working cd drive. I need to reinstall the operating system. I don’t need to use the drive as this computer is only used for internet. I heard there is a way to install from a from a flash drive. Is this possible? Just to clarify I don’t need to install OS X to the flash drive. I need to install from a flash drive to the hard drive of my iMac.
What is the difference between linux and windows, which is better?
Some dell computers are loaded with ubuntu linux as an operating system. I’ve heard that its more efficient than windows and crashes less. What are its advantages? If i were to get a dell laptop with unbuntu loaded on it would I have a tough time figuring out how to use it?
How do I uninstall an Operating System on a Multi OS computer?
You see, I have 2 hard disks and have 2 OS so I was just wondering how I could uninstall one of my OS. I have no important files on the other like pictures since I accidentally installed it on my computer. They are both Windows XP but I put the XP install disc instead of the Ubuntu disk I burned.
Reusing the XP registration code on the same computer?
I am planning on wiping my computer completely. I had done so before using a program called Kill-Disk, and it works quite effectively. The only thing I’m worried about is my operating system. I have the Registration Code and the XP installation disk, but I’ve used the Registration code before. Would I be able to reuse the Registration code after the wipe?
In the GNU operating system, what does the G stand for?
I know that the N and the U stand for "Not Unix", but anyone has any idea why there’s that mysterious G in there? (General Not Unix makes no sense)

I would like to to edit open source codes and building as applications. I’m wishing to edit entire operating system of linux in future. But unfortunately I know only a little bit of C++, and I don’t know how to building applications from source codes. So i wish to move step by step from a simple software. Where can I download open simple source codes? and How can i compiling it as applications?
Is there a possible way to recover my OS after reformatting my hard drives?
I am planning to reformat all of my hard drives. I know it will delete EVERYTHING in my system including the Operating System. My computer is running on Windows XP and I’m wondering if there’s anyway to recover my OS. Microsoft stopped selling Windows XP and I don’t plan to use any of my money anyways.
PS: I have recovery discs. Will this reinstall my OS?
