I have spent about two weeks now trying to gather options on how I can start a dating site because I have a great idea for a particular niche. Does ASP.Net dating software require programming knowledge or can I create a site from this on my own? I wouldn’t mind learning how to install it or certain things on programming, but if it’s something that requires a developer, then obviously I won’t buy it. Any ideas?

I would like to work with artificial intelligence later in my life. I’ll start computer science next year at a university and I would like to learn some basics during these months that I have.

What should I learn? I’m 20 years old and I’ve been around computers since I was a kid and I’m more than just an average user, however my programming knowledge is none.

I want to learn about programming but need something that teaches you from the ground up. I want to take a .Net course at school but I have NO prior programming knowledge so I need something that teaches complete beginners. Any recommendations on books or tutorials would be very much appreciated.

I am sixteen years old and have quite a basic computer programming knowledge. I do however love the subject and so am looking forward towards doing a degree in the field. I am interested to know how much background knowledge (if any at all) would be required and recommended to do this. Any suggestions are very much welcome.

Specifically, I am referring to the giant companies like Facebook and Myspace. How much programming knowledge and/or experience is required to create those websites? Could a college CS major do something like that?

I’m interested in making a multiplayer RTS along the lines of many I have found online. Functionality would include: building, attacking, clan/alliance support, and a graphical map of the playing field. What programming knowledge would I need to do this? Additionally, is there any hardware/software I would need to get?
