I did a little C++ back in college, I’m really into Math and I’m very good with computers. I can learn it but I’m not sure what direction to focus on.

My overall problem is I don’t want to waste my time learning something extensively and exclusively only to find out I should have done something else but in that frame of mind I’m not really doing anything.

So, I want to start doing some programming
A low salary is fine as long as it is in high demand.

To become a gaming programmer, is it better to have a BS in Computer Science and a gaming track, or to have a BS degree in Gaming Stimulation ?

Also, salary-wise, who makes more money, the programmers or the artists?

I am a java programmer, my friend is a programmer analyst. Although we do similar work, his salary is less than mine.

In contrary, I have another friend in the same company. His salary is higher than mine, yet he is also a programmer analyst.

I really do not understand which one is a better post? A Java Programmer, or a Programmer Analyst.

I wish to know what kind of company a good programmer want to join.
It will surely have to be a company that allow programmers to grow their creativity, but how you define a company that allow their employee to be creative?
Other than bonus and raise in salary, What a good programmer will expect to receive from a company for his creativity ?
Will a challenging problem make a good programmer feel motivated to work? If not always, to which degree it will motivate a good programmer ?
I wish to gain insight from a lot of programmer, so it will be helpful if you mail this question to other programmers that you know.
