Where can I start learning and practicing game programming?

I’m on my second year of Computer Science. I know Java, C, UNIX system programming, SQL, XML. I’ve figured that C++ is the most used language for game programming.

So where can I start? Should I join one of those game modding teams? Should I take one of those free online courses?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, and send me an email when you have created your very first game. Love that kind of thinking. You have got what it takes to really make something of yourself.

well, if u want to do old school, you can use c++

however, if you want to make your life a lot easier, you can go use Adobe Flash. if you know java and c/c++, then it wont take long to learn actionscript. not to mention, there is a much larger community for flash games than there is for coded games.

FYI: a large part of Assasins creed 1 and 2 was done with Adobe Flash
